1. What have you learned about organization, collaboration, communication and reflection as part of the learning process?
a. Organization includes time management and self management
a. Time Management: For time management, I have put myself in 2/3 because I don’t really have much problem with time management. It is rare for me to not do a task because I have no time. When there is a project, it is rare for me to do the task last minute, I must have done part of it some other day before. However, I still gave myself a 2 because I don’t always receive a full mark. This means that I don’t spend enough time for a task, I may be able to manage my time but if the score isn’t near to perfect, then the time I have managed is a waste. This is why I need to spend more time in doing my task.
b. Self Management: Self management is able to set goals well and being able to manage my resources. For self management, I have given myself a 3/3 because I set goals all the time. Every time I didn’t do well in a test or a assessment, I set goals and plans so I can improve. As for the resources, I manage my resources well. Printer, laptop, books I have all those resources which are required to be brought. I don’t leave my resources at home, I bring them all, except for printer.
b. Collaboration includes working in groups, accepting others, personal challenges
a. Working in Groups: For working in groups, I have given myself a 2/3 because when working in groups, there is always a group member that we don’t work well with. Well not exactly all the time there is a person who I don’t work well with, however when there is that person, it’s what prevents me to get a 3. Sometimes, our ideas don’t match and we have conflict. That’s why I gave myself a 2.
b. Accepting Others: This topic is similar to working in groups, I can accept others. I can listen to their ideas and work with them. However, there are people who just always rebel. These people are the people who I cannot accept, the ones that rebel the group’s thoughts and make conflict.
c. Personal Challenges: For personal challenges, I have given myself 3/3 because when there is a group member I don’t work in a group, I consider that as a challenge. And what’s odd is that there is always a group member which gives conflict and challenges to me.
c. Communication includes literacy, being informed, informing others
a. Literacy: For literacy, I have given myself a 2/3 because when there is a assesment which requires distinct vocabulary and terminologies, I am not really good at it. The reason I didn’t give myself a 1 is because I can still use terminology, not specific ones though. My terminology isn’t very vast.
b. Being Informed: For being informed, I have given myself a 2/3 because when I go research in the internet or any other media source, sometimes I don’t understand the terminology used. There are times when I have to go to the teacher and ask the meaning of the terminology.
c. Informing Others: For informing others, it is about how we present the data we found from the researching. Well I do pretty well when it is about presenting the information that is obtained, however I didn’t give myself a full mark because this criteria requires a perfect citation which I am not really good at. Sometimes I give up to do the MLA bibliography
d. Reflection includes self awareness, self evaluation
a. Self Awareness: For this topic, I have given myself a 2/3 because I am pretty aware with my strengths and weaknesess. I am pretty self aware with how I can improve in the subjects and assesments. But I didn’t give myself a 3/3 because I have this bad habit when I already know my errors, I don’t really improve a lot.
b. Self Evaluation: Self evaluation is knowing the mistakes and trying to improve on those mistakes. On the previous topic, I have stated how I don’t really make vast improvements on my mistakes, however the reason is because the errors I make in most of my assesments are not big.
2. Last quarter, you had identified one or more learning skills that you felt you needed to refine or improve. What have you done since that time to start the process of making that change and improving that skill, and have you made progress?
I had identified the skill in organization, the skill of time management. From last quarter to this quarter, I have done quite some actions to improve my time management. Before this quarter, there are times where I do my assesments las minute. Since last quarter, the improvement which I made is simply to make a time table. Well a time table could be compared to a schedule, I made one of those so I can manage my time better. I set a time to play, do my homework and to do other activities. It actually was quite a good solution because I have improved my time management now, it is rare for me to do my assesments on the last minute now.
3. Considering your response to question #2, how will you keep up the effort to improve that skill, after semester is over?
To keep up my effort to improve my skill which is time management, I will still keep making a time table. Maybe not making because I have made one, I will update the time table instead incase I have other activities. For time management, since I am able to manage my time better now, what’s to improve is to spend more time on my assesments. If I am already able to manage the time, what’s left must be to spend more time on the assesments so I can get a better mark. A mark close to perfect.
