Example of Website
This is the subtopic research on example of website, below is the research. However I have also uploaded the file in word because there are some features that cannot be viewed when uploaded to this website.
Topic: Example Of Website
Research
Source/Page
Information
http://www.parentdish.co.uk
Since the topic of this research is example of website, it is not the information that I take from this website. Instead, I study the layout of the website and how the information is arranged. This website in particular is designed quite well and I chose this as a source because I believe my website will probably look similar to this site. It has good navigation since there are different topics on the top side of the site, not to mention a search feature. The information is arranged well and it accompanied with a correct amount of high quality pictures. It also provides social media features like twitter and facebook which is good because I would need those components in my product. The comment box at the bottom of the page is also very important because it lets the reader get involved with the author. This component will be in my website and will be very useful. Not to mention that this site is addressed for parents, just like my project. This site will be a fine reference for me. This though excludes the advertisements because there are quite a few in this site, while my product website won’t have a single one.
http://mommysnippets.com
This site will also be a reference for the product of my personal project. My final product which is the website will most likely look like a site like this because it fits the description of a good website (based on my research in the “Product subtopic research”). The site is designed very nicely, the topics of the website is arranged on the top and has sub topics in it. This is good because my website would adapt with these designs. The content is nicely writen eventhough I believe there are too many pictures in a article. The author could have had the same amount of pictures but at least decreased the size. Nevertheless though there are social media features and a comment box below that completes this website as a good website. The website is targetted to moms or parents which is viable with my problem.
http://www.2knowmyself.com
This here is yet again another site that fits in quite well for my final product. Together there are three sites that are good examples of my website. This site has the same specifications with the other two sites. The navigation is well, there are topics at the top side of the site. The content is organized well and it even gives out suggestions for further information at the bottom of the page. This is good and I could apply it in my website. It involves social media features and a search component. These are all beneficial facts for my product. One thing that this site lacks is pictures, there isn’t a single one. Also from the three sites, there was always a “About Us” or “Contact” topic at the top. I will definitely include this because the viewer would need it if they would want to use my site as a reference.
Interview - Jeanne Lukita
This source here is from a interview which I conducted during the previous tenth grader’s personal project. This information probably isn’t completely relevant with my project because her product wasn’t a website. However, that is the only thing that is different. Her AOI is health and social education, same as mine and her goal is to raise awareness of people about broken families. Her topic is very similar to mine since it’s still in the family issue category. I asked her the general questions about personal project. But she told me to get information from good sources and sort them well. She even sorta helped me to come up with a website as my product. The researched information should be accompanied with pictures so it won’t be boring, and try to keep it simple. Don’t overload information. These are basically facts from the internet, however it is still good to get a opinion from a person who has done this project before.
I also conducted another interview, here were the results:
1. 1. Who are you? How old are you? What school do you go to? What grade are you in?
My name's Jeanne Lukita. I am 15 years old and I go to SPH Sentul City. I am currently in grade 11.
2. 2. Have you ever completed personal project or something similar to it?
I have completed personal project last year.
3. 3. What was your topic about?
The topic I chose was about broken families (divorce, abandonment, family loss).
4. 4. Why did you select this topic?
I chose this topic because it's something I truly care about.
5. 5. What was your AOI and product?
My AOI was Health and Social Education.
6. 6. What do you think was challenging about your AOI and product?
There was nothing challenging about my AOI. The most challenging thing about my product would be burning the video into the disc (because I failed like 4 or 5 times).
7. 7. What was your goal?
My goal is to raise awareness in my community about broken families and give pointers on how to cope with the issues this causes in a visual format.
8. 8. What were the struggles while completing your goal?
Talking to my best friend (who was my source for the subtopic: family loss) about the death of her father was really hard because it was every emotional to her and me.
9. 9. What resources did you use throughout the entire personal project?
I used a variety of sources since it was mandatory in the criteria. I used: internet, youtube videos, interview, survey
10. 10. Did your project involve community or society, if yes how did you know that community actually learned from your project?
I involved my community (school) because I had to interview them before I created the product and after since my audience was teenagers. The community learned about the effects broken families (family loss, divorce, abandonment) had on teenagers and how teenagers reacted to it.
11. 11. What is the most difficult thing you experienced throughout personal project?
The most difficult thing I experienced would be editing and burning the video. Honestly, I am not skilled in editing videos so my product did not turn out to be awesome.
12. 12. How did you overcome it?
To be honest, I did not overcome it. I just managed to deal with it. The main thing was that I fulfilled all my specifications.
Interview - Michelle Pranoto
I conducted a interview with her because her project has some relevance with mine. Here are the results: 1. 1. Who are you? How old are you? What school do you go to? What grade are you in?
My name is Michelle Pranoto and I'll be 16 years old this November. I go to SPHI Sentul City and am currently in grade 11.
2. 2. Have you ever completed personal project or something similar to it?
I completed personal project.
3. 3. What was your topic about?
My topic was about the awareness of breast cancer.
4. 4. Why did you select this topic?
I chose it because I believe there's a lack of breast cancer awareness amongst women in Indonesia.
5. 5. What was your AOI and product?
My AOI was Health and Social Education. My product was an awareness campaign in form of a sculpture.
6. 6. What do you think was challenging about your AOI and product?
The AOI was challenging because I had to educate myself about the effects of breast cancer and such. The product was challenging because it is time consuming; making a sculpture out of gypsum and wire isn't so easy.
7. 7. What was your goal?
My goal was to show the devastating effects of breast cancer through art's ability to trigger emotions.
8. 8. What were the struggles while completing your goal?
It was hard having to talk about such personal stuff with the ladies (breast cancer patients/survivors) I interviewed.
9. 9. What resources did you use throughout the entire personal project?
I used books, internet, documentary movies, exhibition and people.
10. 10. Did your project involve community or society, if yes how did you know that community actually learned from your project?
I did a survey. Part of my design specification requires 30 women to be aware of breast cancer after looking and understanding my product. I made a survey and hand out papers to 30 different women and I know from there that they became aware.
11. 11. What is the most difficult thing you experienced throughout personal project?
The most difficult thing about personal project would be the research. Even though mine was fun because I get to meet a lot of people, finding the exact information you want isn't easy. Make sure you search in the right places.
12. 12. How did you overcome it?
I overcome it by pushing myself to be diligent, to watch even the most boring of documentaries. Just push yourself and make sure you actually enjoy making the product, otherwise the project will just be boring.
Interview – Chika Kusumahadi
1. Who are you? How old are you? What school do you go to? What grade are you in?
Chika Kusumahadi, 15 years old, SPH Sentul City, grade 11
2. Have you ever completed personal project or something similar to it?
Yes I have
3. What was your topic about?
Creating kid-friendly recipes for children with vegetables and fruits as the main ingredient
4. Why did you select this topic?
Because I am interested in cooking and I am inspired by my sister and my own experience when I was younger
5. What was your AOI and product?
Human Ingenuity, website and recipes
6. What do you think was challenging about your AOI and product?
What's challenging about the AOI I chose is I have to make sure the ingenuity aspect is shown, so there is pressure to make my product look good. As for my product, making the recipes was a challenge
7. What was your goal?
To make children understand that eating vegetables/fruits is not a painful experience
8. What were the struggles while completing your goal?
Time management, finding first hand sources
9. What resources did you use throughout the entire personal project?
