Career Day Interview
This year we were given the chance to experience a career interview. We had to choose three sessions, the sessions I chose were Engineering, Business, and Hotel Management. Below are the results of my interview.
Session 1
Name of Speaker: Kevin Sutantio
Occupation: Mechanical Engineer
Study Path: Engineering and Entrepreneurship
Personal Reflection:
I learned a lot from his session. The speaker worked at a company that sells bacteria, bio degrading bacteria. It's actually quite interesting. He told us that engineering is all about solving problems. That's what they do. It is highly respectable. He gave us tips that in college, we need to be diverse. Don't be so stuck in engineering, because engineering is related to a lot of other subjects. Two things that I will always remember from his session is: He told us to stay true to morals, yourself, and Christ. That is awesome advice. The second one is that when we work at a engineering firm, communication is very important. It is one of the difficulties faced in real life, everyone needs to communicate.
Session 2
Name of Speaker: Maria Gunawan
Occupation: Fashion Retail
Study Path: Business and Marketting
Personal Reflection:
It was actually quite confusing when I was at this session, because the focus was more to the fashion/retail side rather than the business. I guess there was a slight misunderstanding in what was expected by both the audience and the speaker. But anyway, I learned some stuff in the session. She explained that concept is very important in business. It is the foundation. Know the concept of what your doing. Also, follow your passion. Do what you like, because there is always a business side in any job.
Session 3
Name of Speaker: Angkoso B Soekadari
Occupation: Country Head of Red Planet Hotels
Study Path: Hotel Management
Personal Reflection:
Hotel management was my third pick, I'm not really interested in the hotel part because I want to be a engineer, however the management and property stuff was quite interesting since it is slightly connected to engineering. The man told me hotel business should come from the heart, it should be a passion. He has been working in hotels for years, hes worked for 17 hotels. The thing about hotel management is just to make people happy, its to provide them service. The man sure loves his job.
