Design Technology
Both design technology this quarter, we focused on cooking Indonesian traditional food. The reason to this is because every first quarter the main topic for most subjects is Indonesia, so we did Indonesian food. Here are the results for the Indonesian dishes that we cooked. "We" because we were divided to groups, my group members were Matthew and Tibo.
Reflection
These are the food that we cooked during quarter 1. Out of all the food that we cooked as a group, the one I prefer the most was the kwetiau sapi goreng because it was the food that our group cooked. It may sound bad however I learned a lot during the cooking process of kwetiau sapi goreng. One of the skills that I learned was chopping and slicing the spices, even though I did this in the previous cooking project, it is still considered useful. Also there was one knew skill during the cooking process which is slicing the meat. Slicing meat is very difficult, especially when the meat is already cooked. This is why we sliced the meat when it was still frozen, to reduce the difficulty in slicing the meat. Also there is also the fact that this food has the best taste, I personally believe so. The taste of the kwetiau was really delicious, especially with the meat. This Kalimantan dish is definitely the best compared to the others.
Despite the greatness of this food and the cooking process, there were still improvements that could have been made. As far as I could remember, generally everyone did a good job with this dish. There were more then two groups with the best taste including our group. This means we should have cooked better, as the demonstration group we should be the one with the most knowledge. We should have been the best, our taste should have been the most delicious. However it wasn't. Our group can improve in many ways, when we did the cooking we should have focused more. If we focused and concentrated more the taste of the kwetiau would be better. The color would be browner, the smell would be nice and the taste of the meat would be perfect. Besides that, there wasn't actually anything which we can improve because we followed the recipe. The preparations were right and we cooked it successfully.
This cooking project can definitely be relevant with the AOI Community and Service. When we first did the cooking, we had to help each other. The community here is our group and the whole class, so we need to listen and help each other. We need to assist them and help their needs. For example since we were the demonstration group, students will ask for our help. So we need to give response to others needs. For the reflection we had to evaluate on each others responsibilities because every member has a role during the cooking project. We need to evaluate and think over how they did on their role. If it wasn't so good, they had to improve and work on their role in the project. From this cooking project, my awareness towards the community increased because now I recognized the needs of communities. During the cooking project, other groups needed our help so we recognized this and we assisted them.
