This week was the first week in the creating process. Today the plan was to cut out the two plane shapes from the plywood. I already got the plywood, I didn't buy all the plywood for the project yet. I only bought what was necessary, which is currently still 1M X 1M plywood. It only costs Rp 30,000 surprisingly. You may view the purchase receipt below. So today's plan was to cut out the two plane shapes, however things didn't go as perfectly as planned. Yes I surely did follow my plan, I followed it perfectly. However it took much longer than expected to cut out he first plane shape. Turns out cutting with the chop saw was really difficult, In the end I was only able to finish cutting out one of the planes and the second one is still under progress. So far I can't really refer my progress to the design specifications because I haven't done much at all. This isn't even considered as the foundation of my project. I still have lots to do, I really need to work hard. So far there aren't any changes which I have made from my plane. However one things for sure I need to work hard on Wednesday because I should have already cut out the second plane. I have a lot to catch up.

Today was only a one period lesson of Design Technology. I only had 35 minutes to continue with the creation process. Originally, the plan was to already be cutting out the handle of both planes and start to paint one of the planes. However, due to Monday's delay I have yet to accomplish that. I had to continue cutting out the second plane from the plywood which was really difficult to do back on Monday. But Ibu Lisa showed me a technique and I managed to cut it all out in time today. In addition to that, I cut out the seats for both planes today. I was just about to start cutting the handles when the bell rang. Therefore I am still behind schedule, far behind. I will need to work hard to catch up by next week. Since I haven't done much yet, I can't really relate it with the design specifications yet. I haven't applied sandpaper yet which means the edges are still rough. I will need to finish the toy first before evaluating it with the specifications. So far, I haven't had any changes to my plan. I am still following it step by step, hoping to finish the toy in time.

Today I did quite some progress on the toys. Originally, I was suppose to be finalizing the wooden map, but I am still not there yet by the end of the day. What I first did today was finalizing the planes. From last week's work, all I had to work on with the planes was cutting out the handles. That is exactly what I have done. It took me a entire period to do that, it required some difficult technique. This means that the planes are almost done, all I need to do with them is paint them. The other thing which I did was to work on the map. Originally the map was to be 4 meters X 2 meters. I changed the measurements into 3 meters X 2 meters because I realize it was way too big. That is probably the only change I will make with the design. I divided the map into six wooden pieces. Today I finalized one of the pieces and started a little with the second piece. This means that I will need to rush a lot next week because this Wednesday is Indonesia Day. I already received information that painting at home is fine. Therefore I just need to cut the remaining 5 pieces next week. I know I can accomplish this by next week. I also need to make sure there are no sharp edges with the toy, so far there aren't any. The cost so far has also only been Rp. 210.000. I just need to work extra hard and fast next week.

Today I finalized the cutting part of the entire project. I should have already begin painting today, however due to the delays I have been experiencing from the last two weeks, I have just finished cutting the entire pieces for the project. Yes I have followed the plan step by step. Luckily, Ibu Lisa have said that the painting process can be finished at home. This means that I am not behind schedule anymore because I can just paint at home. Therefore what I need to do left would be to apply the sandpaper to each of the wood pieces which I have mostly done today. I will just need to apply sandpaper to a few of the puzzle pieces. Other then applying sandpaper, I also will need to apply the foundation on the wood pieces before painting them. This will improve the quality of the paint. I of course will need to purchase the foundation first. So far I guess I have met with the design specifications, the things I have made are products of innovation, and the cost so far has been below Rp. 300,000. The only design specifications which I cannot I have accomplished is the safety because I haven't applied sandpaper to all of the pieces and some of them are still sharp. The only changes I have made from the plan since today would be to paint the pieces at home because we were informed that it would be okay. Therefore what I need to do next on Wednesday would be to apply sandpaper and to apply foundation.

Today was the last class period to work on the project. Today all I did was apply the sandpaper to each of the wood pieces. I made sure that the edges weren't rough and there were no sharp edges. That took me the whole period because I had quite a few wood pieces that needed the sandpaper. Other then that, I have also purchased the foundation and the paint I will for the project. There are only a few colors that I needed to buy. The total cost of the things I bought today was Rp.80.000. Therefore my entire expenses for this project is Rp,290.000. This also means that I have met one of the design specification requirement which is cost. The total cost for this project is still under Rp, 300.000. I didn't really follow the plan today because I should be painting at school today. However, due to knowing that we could paint at home really lighten things up. I can now just paint at home and hopefully still be able to finish the project by Friday. It is indeed gonna be difficult because I only have two days and I will need to rush a lot. Plus, so far I can say that I have met with most of the design specifications because the safety is now better now that I have smoothed the sharp areas. The only problem I am worried of regarding the design specifications would be the weight. I am quite afraid that the weight will cost to much to carry for the kindergarten students,.

Today I did the last touches to the toy. All that was left was painting each of the wood pieces. This was a very long process because I had numerous wood pieces. Before I painted the wood pieces, I first had to connect the puzzle together and it did connect. It fit in well and everything was in place. Next I drew the world map on top of the fitted puzzle. For this part I sorta had help because the scale was really big and I was a lousy drawer. I had assistance to draw the continents and when it was done I began painting. I painted and after a long time it finally was finished. I can say that I have met with all of the design specifications because the ones that worried me the most was the sharp edges and the cost. Both of them have been fulfilled. I have applied sandpaper for the solution of the sharp edges, like a lot of sandpaper. As for the cost, it still remains Rp 290.000 in total. Therefore I could say that the toy has been successfully finished. I did made some changes from the original plan though, and it is regarding the design. I changed some of the colors for the world map from the one I designed previously. Also, I made the details in the plane a little simpler for example I decreased the amount of windows because there wasn't enough space for more. Overall, I believe I did quite a good job. I learned countless new techniques about carpentry and it was a good experience. The last challenge would be bringing it to school, I just have so many wood pieces to bring.

Reflection
For design technology this quarter we made a toy for the kindergarten students. Above you are able to see the process and the final toy itself. For this project, I feel quite good because the score I received for the criterions weren't very disappointing. The score which I decided to upload here is for criterion A which is investigation. Most of the criterion scores which I got were satisfying, all of them except for criterion E which was evaluation. I got the lowest for the evaluation section and this is where I should improve in the future. I should be more careful with my evaluation espa
This task can surely be connected with other subjects such as math and art. The reason to this is because we need math to do our calculations on the toy, and art for the creativity aspect of the toy. The task can also be help us in the future because this project trained our innovating skill. We had to innovate a traditional toy. Therefore in the future when we are working, we might be able to innovate products.
This task also develops a mastery of concept, skill, and attitude. The concept that was developed for this project was development because I developed the toy step by step. There was a process and plan which had to be followed. The skill which I developed were communication, social, research, and thinking. These were the developed skills because I had to communicate and interact with the kindergarten students. I had to research on the toys which would suit their needs, and it all required critical thinking. The attitude which I developed was creativity because that was deeply required to work on the toy. This whole learning experience was really challenging because the design I made for the toy required numerous techniques that was very hard to do.
