Topic: Paper Towel:
Objective: Which kind of paper towel absorbs the most water?
Hypothesis: I think that the “Nice” paper towel would absorb the least amount of water because when I touch it, the material feels thin. While the “Push” paper towel could absorb the most water because it seems thicker and it cost the most. This means that the “Super Indo” paper towel would be in between.
Variables:
· Independent: The types of paper towels because for each test we would change the types of paper towels.
· Dependent: The dependent variable is how long it takes to absorb. In other words, it’s “absorb” and “time”.
· Control: What we control is the water because for each test we must have the same amount of water.
Material List
1st Test
· Nice paper towel
· Carrefour paper towel
· Super Indo paper towel
· 3 250ml beaker
· Water
· Stopwatch
2nd Test
· Nice paper towel
· Carrefour paper towel
· Super Indo paper towel
· 3 250ml beaker
· Water
· Stopwatch
3rd Test
· Nice paper towel
· Carrefour paper towel
· Super Indo paper towel
· 3 250ml beaker
· Water
· Stopwatch
Method (My group uses my method)
1st Test:
1. Fill 50 ml to the 250ml beaker.
2. Take a sheet of “Nice” paper towel and fold it 2 times.
3. Place the folded paper towel inside the beaker while timing it with a stopwatch.
4. After 10 seconds, gradually take back the paper towel.
5. Now see the volume of the beaker, see the difference of the volume when the towel wasn’t inserted and after the towel was inserted.
6. The difference is how much can the towel absorb.
7. Do this method for the “Carrefour” and “Super Indo” paper towels.
2nd Test:
1. Fill 100 ml to the 250ml beaker.
3rd Test:
1. Fill 200 ml to the 250ml beaker.

Data Presentation
Explanation
The data above and the graph is the result of the experiment that my group and I did. From the data, we could see from the tests that the Nice paper towel wasn’t accurate. The Super Indo paper towel on the other hand is a bit accurate because the 1st and 2nd test from the Super Indo paper towel is the same. The last paper towel which is Push, also has the 1st and 2nd test the same. This proves that the Super Indo and the Push paper towel is a bit accurate.
Evaluation
From the explanation above, we could see that the only towel that is not accurate is the Nice paper towel. The Push and Super Indo paper towel on the other hand is a bit accurate. I think that the reason the Nice paper towel wasn’t accurate because when we take out the Nice paper towel from the beaker, water poured out and the towel couldn’t absorb its fullest. For the Push and Super Indo, two out of three is accurate so I guess it is satisfying.
Conclusion
As a conclusion, we could say that my hypothesis is incorrect because my hypothesis stated that the Nice paper towel would absorb the least amount of water; but the test results says that the Nice paper towel absorbs the most water. My prediction for the Super Indo paper towel was also wrong because I predicted that the Super Indo would absorb water between the Push and Nice paper towel, but the test results stated that the Super Indo absorbed the least. My only correct prediction was the Push paper towel which absorbed the most water along with the Nice because the quantity was the same.
Evaluation
From this experiment, my hypothesis is incorrect; as said at the conclusion. I could have improved the hypothesis by observing the paper towels more and see which one was thicker. I would also be more careful and precise when running the experiments. I could have also improved my method because when I ran the test, after the paper towel absorbed the water; some water poured out so I could have made the water stayed. This would make each of the paper towels accurate for each test.
Extension
There are other experiments that are related to this experiment such as if we changed the paper towel to a normal towel. If we changed the paper towel to a towel, the method would be the same and it should work. Another suggestion would be changing the water into alcohol because alcohol is different with water so it would be possible to use it. I would like to suggest one more extension, if we changed the paper towel to different types of sponges, the method would be the same and it would work.
This is my science assessment on paper towels. I hope you understand which of the paper towels could absorb the most water. I came up with the method by myself. We could have improved by making it more précised.
