Reflection
This fieldtrip has certainly changed my perspective about the environment because I have now experienced a new type of environment which is a slum. I haven't been to a lot of slums in my life, probably only during church outreaches. I am not a huge fan of slums, however it is part of our environment. And a slum isn't the best environment to live at. Therefore I have became more grateful to the environments we are living at and also, people need to take action for the slums.
It is very important to understand how different people perceive in these environments because some people just ignore the horrible environments that people living at. Perceptions are do lead to our decisions. What we think first will lead to what we act. The thing is, sometimes what we think isn't always right. Sometimes we need to think deeper and know more before we think. That is what needs to happen for the slum issue. They need to experience the slum environment before choosing to ignore them, because they just as equally as human compared to other people.
The Bible tells us to take care of the environment. Well when God created us, He told us to rule over His creations. He wanted us to take care of the environment. That is why we shouldn't ignore those who are troubled. Those who are living under terrible environments. They need help. For those who are given, are also expected more.
Our lifestyle, the way we live right now impacts the slum environment and many other international environments even though we may not realize it. For example sometimes we don't finish our food. Imagine how difficult it is for those people to find food. We really need to be more careful. Another example could be about clothes. Sometimes we just randomly change clothes and get them washed. It is very hard for the slum people to wash their clothes cleanly, their environment don't support proper sanitation.
That is why, we need to be more careful with the resources we have. We shouldn't take it for granted. We need to realize that are others that don't have access to the resources we use everyday. It is actually just unfair. Right now I'm still a student, so I that's what I can do for now. I don't have the money to support them.
